About This Blog
Welcome to the School for Independent Learners Education Blog! Devoted to education reform, best-practices in teaching, and sharing learning resources, it’s our way of connecting with our fellow teachers, students, parents, and anybody else that might be interested in what the SIL community is learning about. Every blog post is written by a SIL teacher!
Outside of the ubiquitous Wikipedia, there’s a ton of other great educational resources out there – whether its a demonstration of standing waves on a Chladni Plate from YouTube, a cartoon about the effects of addictive substances by the University of Utah, or an inspirational story of a teenage headmaster in West Bengal by the BBC – there’s just so much media and information on the internet that sometimes the best material gets passed over. There’s no way we’re going to find everything, but the hope is that once in a while, we’ll find something really great that brightens up a class, provides a new perspective on an old discussion, or maybe even some never-before-seen footage with David Attenborough (yea right).
So welcome to our blog – we hope you enjoy it!
